2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA is an indisputably luxurious top-of-the-line subcompact sedan. Even though this four-door coupe is the German automaker’s least expensive model, for 2024, it offers a refined design, noteworthy comfort and advanced technology.
In the front, a minor refresh is detectable. Mercedes-Benz has made some brilliant refinements to the grille and air intakes. In the rear, the bumper boasts a reworked diffuser and tailpipes. Other improvements include two new exterior paint colors: Hyper Blue and Starling Blue. It’s also worth mentioning that, in terms of driver assist features, the Parking Package and Mirror Package—as well as automated emergency braking—are now standard equipment.
On the inside, the front seats are excellent, as always. A few new trim elements and backlit USB ports are making their appearance for 2024. The automaker has also updated the MBUX infotainment system, with new displays and wireless smartphone connectivity by means of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Meanwhile, the optional Burmester sound system features Dolby Atmos surround-sound technology.
Mechanical refinement in the 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA
The 250, AMG 35 4MATIC and AMG 45 4MATIC models of the 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA all rely on a 2.0 L four-cylinder turbo engine. The big news for 2024 is that this engine now avails of a belt-driven starter-generator coupled to a 48-volt electrical power supply. This mild hybrid configuration doesn’t affect the 221 maximum horsepower of the 250 model (or the 302 and 382 hp of the AMG models); however, it does increase responsiveness at low rpm. Additionally, the brakes, suspension, gearbox, drive modes and other features continue making the CLA an exhilarating ride, especially on the high-performance versions (the automatic transmission is an eight-speed on the AMG 45 and a seven-speed on all the other models).
An all-electric CLA in the works
Mercedes-Benz is preparing for the release of an electric CLA next year. Although it won’t sport the EQ label, it will definitely be consistent with the automaker’s current trajectory. This CLA would feature the new architecture designed to be “electric first” and could very well offer a range in excess of 600 kilometers.
